School Bus Camera Questions
How many cameras can a school bus use?
The mobile DVR supports up to eight cameras. A typical layout can cover the road, driver, passenger cabin, entry door, stop-arm side, opposite side, and rear, with placement adjusted to the bus and your priorities.
Can the system review stop-arm violations?
A side-facing camera can record the stop-arm area and approaching traffic. TracFleet provides the vehicle, location, time, and available footage needed for staff to review the event. TMV does not promise a legal outcome or citation.
Does the system identify or track individual students?
No student identity or attendance-tracking capability is claimed. Cabin and door cameras provide video context for authorized staff reviewing a specific event.
How is footage of minors handled?
Your organization controls staff access, what footage is uploaded to the cloud, and how long uploaded footage is retained. Local DVR retention is also configurable. Your own policies and counsel determine notices, access rules, and other requirements.
How long is video kept?
The DVR can retain footage locally for up to 60 days depending on camera count, recording settings, and storage. TracFleet includes unlimited cloud storage volume and history for footage you choose to upload, with retention controlled by you.
Can staff view cameras remotely?
TracFleet can provide live and remote access to connected cameras for authorized fleet staff. Access and use remain under your organization’s control.
Do we need TracFleet to use the camera system?
The DVR can keep a local camera record by itself. Most fleets pair it with TracFleet for remote review, live location, route history, driver events, and day-to-day fleet visibility.
Who installs and supports the equipment?
TMV provides onsite installation and repairs in Southern California and direct team support nationwide. Outside Southern California, discuss installation arrangements with us before ordering. We have served commercial fleets since 2007.
